After meeting with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said his country will always stand with America in "defending liberal democratic international order," a pledge meant to show the strength of the alliance.
문재인 한국 대통령은 금요일 카말라 해리스 미국 부통령과 회담을 가진 후 “자유 민주주의 국제 질서 수호”에서 자신의 나라가 항상 미국과 함께할 것이라고 말했다.

Moon met Harris at latter's ceremonial office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on the White House complex, ahead of his meeting with President Joe Biden. It followed the same schedule as Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, when he visited Washington last month.
문 대통령은 조 바이든 대통령과의 회담에 앞서 백악관 영내에 있는 아이젠하워 행정동 빌딩 내의 접견실에서 해리스 부통령과 회담을 했다. 스가 요시히데 일본 총리가 지난달 워싱턴을 방문했을 때와 같은 일정을 따랐다.

Speaking to reporters after their talk, Moon said that the U.S.-South Korea alliance was "forged in blood 70 years ago to fight for freedom and democracy together."
문 대통령은 연설 후에 기자들과의 인터뷰에서“한미동맹은 70년 전 자유와 민주주의를 위해 함께 피를 흘려 싸운 혈맹으로 맺어진 것"이라고 말했다.

Moon also vowed to coordinate with the U.S. "with no daylight" to achieve complete denuclearization and establish permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
문 대통령은 또 한반도의 완전한 비핵화와 지속적인 평화를 정착시키기 위해 미국과 '밤낮없이' 협력하겠다고 다짐했다.

The joint press conference followed closed-door meetings as well as a Medal of Honor ceremony where Biden awarded retired Col. Ralph Puckett Jr., a 94-year-old veteran who served in the Korean War.
비공개 회의와 바이든 대통령의 한국전쟁에 참전했던 94세의 베테랑 원로인 랄프 퍼켓 주니어 대령에 대한 명예훈장 수여식에 뒤이어 공동 기자회견이 있었다.

"Our goal is and remains complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," Biden told reporters. "We want to make practical progress, and increase security for the United States and our allies."
바이든 대통령은 기자들에게 "우리의 목표는 한반도의 완전한 비핵화 그리고 실질적인 진전을 이루는 것이며 미국과 동맹국들의 안보를 강화하는 것"이라고 말했다.
